Development of new care models/care delivery methods

  1. Virtual Airway Assessment in the Preoperative Period in Patients Presenting for Neurosurgery: A Safer Preoperative Practice in Neuroanesthesia in the Backdrop of the COVID-19 Pandemic! has been cited by World health Organisation as a significant contribution under Global literature on COVID19 virus related research.
  2. An Institutional Protocol for Anesthetic Management of a Patient for Neurosurgery during Coronavirus Disease 2019 Pandemic was first of its kind and published in peer reviewed pubmed indexed journal and has been cited by other Institutions and researchers.
  3. “Chitra Acrylosorb” canister bag will ensure the safe handling and disposal of respiratory secretions in hospitals forICU patients or those with copious respiratory secretions treated in the wards. Acrylosorb disinfects and solidifies respiratory secretions of patients suffering from highly contagious diseases such as COVID 19, tuberculosis (TB) and influenza, which pose high risk of infection among healthcare workers . This received media attention and brought laurels to the Institution and was appreciated by Dr Harsh Vardhan, Cabinet Minister for Science and Technology and Dr Ashutosh Sharma, Secretary, Department of Science and Technology .
  4. Code orange protocol emergency resuscitation of COVID19 patients/suspects was first of its kind in a National institution at the outbreak of COVID19 pandemic in 2020.

New Techniques developed

  1. Virtual Airway Assessment in the Preoperative Period in Patients Presenting for Neurosurgery: A Safer Preoperative Practice in Neuroanesthesia in the Backdrop of the COVID-19 Pandemic!
  2. Novel application of near-infrared spectroscopy in detecting iatrogenic vasospasm during interventional neuroradiological procedures.
  3. Multimodal monitoring to aid detection and management of intraoperative seizures.
